Authorities reported they were alerted by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Around 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Officers say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.

The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police report initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any harm in connection with the event," they added.

City officials announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for details.

An important representative stated the attack made him without words and had to be resolved quickly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, referring to the death of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
